CANDLE SAFETY

Here's a sneak peak at our 'Candle Care'

Using candles safely in your home is extremely important, therefore please read this guide prior to burning your candle.

  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time for safety reasons - candles burnt for excessive amounts of time can get too hot causing the glass to become overexposed to heat. This could cause the glass to crack or smash!

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Burn your candle on a heat resistant surface and away from any draughts or heat sources.

  • Burn in a well ventilated room.

  • Always trim the wick to 5mm before each burn and keep the wax pool clear of any debris. This will help prevent 'mushrooming' and 'sooting'. A wick trimmer is the best tool for the job, however a pair of scissors will also do the trick.

  • Be careful, the container may become hot to touch. Do not move a burning candle.

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

  • Stop burning your candle when 10mm of wax remains at the bottom.

Did you know that the first burn on a candle is the most important? Let us tell you why....the first burn will determine how the rest of your candle will burn. Wax has memory, so if you only light your candle for a short amount of time on the first burn then it will only create a small melt pool, and then when you light it the next time it will copy this and likely tunnel down (leaving a lot of wax left over around the side). Therefore, to maximise your candles life we recommend burning it for at least 2 hours on its first burn.

Please note, all Twig Pea candles come with a candle care and safety guide, providing information on how to safely burn your candle. Please keep this safe and to refer to it before lighting your candle.

WAX MELT SAFETY

To burn your wax drops you will need a wax or oil burner.  Ensure your burner is placed in a suitable area of your home away from children and pets, and any draughts or flammables. We recommend using 2 wax drops per burn  - DO NOT add water. Each wax drop is approximately 7g giving you around 3 hours of strong fragrance, but you can continue burning your wax until there is no fragrance left. Once you have finished with the wax drop allow the wax to cool and reset before placing a lit tealight in your burner for around 30 seconds - this will allow the wax to pop out of your burner. Dispose of the wax safely. Never leave a lit wax burner unattended.
